48h in Madrid

I had two reasons to visit Madrid. Its Spain’s capital and BA fly a long haul plane once a day (or did). I booked LHR to MAD on BA’s 777 service, when booking you have to assume the plane may get switched back to a regular A320.

We arrived in Madrid and took a taxi to our hotel. I booked the Melia with level access, which gave you lounge access. The next day we commenced a photography tour of Lisbon.

We walked a long way and en-route back we visited the tomb which was stone for stone relocated.

The next day we checked out and explored the markets and the more retail areas of Madrid.

Sunday markets

We then headed back to our hotel, collected our bags and took the subway/train back to the airport.

The airbnb experience gave us a good orientation of Madrid providing history and photographs – it was a good way to get some photos ! I’d link to it, but it looks like the host has stopped offering the experience.
