When the worlds most popular shopping platform fails

As of this morning (21 June 07:00 or earlier) Shopify is returning a nginx error on all shops – as many companies rely on Shopify to run their business, it will have significant impact.

interestingly shopifystatus.com shows everything is fine – https://www.shopifystatus.com/

But twitter is full of users reporting issues.

If you use Shopify and are affected by this, remember to pause all marketing emails, all google spend to minimise any marketing loss. Be aware stopping marketing often then takes time to restart.

Edit: as of 8:35 sites are now working. It’ll be interesting to understand what went wrong.

At 8.28 they updated their support twitter feed.

As of 9.37 Apparently the root cause was with Cloudflare. –
